August Occasions

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with The Guelph Symphony Orchestra this Tuesday to present Symphony Under the Stars at the Yorklands Green Hub in Guelph!

There is a rain date of Aug 7th, but we are watching the forecast closely and the 6th looks very promising for clear skies.

Volunteers from Ten Telescopes will be bringing a collection of our handmade telescopes from the Blue Door Astro Library including Barbie, Comet, Canuck, Bumblebee, Matrix, Gryphon and Babylon! We are starting the event during dusk in the hopes that we can spot the elusive Mercury just after sunset, together with Venus and the crescent moon. Members of the GSO will play a collection of celestially inspired works as dusk becomes night. Then we will split some stars, catch some clusters and grab some galaxies.

Bring some comfortable shoes, some insect protection, and a blanket or lightweight folding chair. We will be setting up about 600 metres from the York Rd entrance to the Green Hub which can be walked or biked. We will be placing red LED candles to guide the way. There will also be volunteers on hand to ensure you're going to find us. Parking is a bit informal as there is no official parking for the Green Hub and we encourage public transit (check schedules to make sure this will work for you), walking or biking. If you are driving please watch the signs for permitted parking areas.

We look forward to seeing you there!
